Set up

Thought I'd follow in Stu's (Calva or bust) footsteps (so to speak) and start a running blog to help document my training towards a Bob Graham round attempt in May 2012. Knowing me I'll start slowly, putting stuff intermittently on here and gradually increase the content as my confidence with the media increases.

The Bob Graham round is something I’ve only been thinking about in the last 12 months or so, since the first time I ran over 30 miles in a race and started trail running. Both the terrain and the length of those two types of event seem to be what suits me most, the two together being my preference – the variety of ground underfoot and views lift my spirits and give me a sense of purpose. The BGR being right on my doorstep (well the start only 13 miles away) is ideal.

This year I intend to go out and help others in their attempts by being a support runner on some of the legs. How to go about this and race? Probably it will mean less racing than I’d like but preparation is the key – to get mountain fit and confident, to know the various legs well.
